Next step - more leading to day to day business - was product manager at the largest German producer of now "Away from home tissues", a function strongly connected to sales in this company.
As sales manager Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe we joined next an English multi. They exclusively represented in marketing and sales one of the worldwide leading US multis, here selling a high tech product into the graphics industry and others.
This turned out so successful, that the US concern took back this business including myself, building own European production capacities.
Six years later and with tripled sales we looked for a new challenge being frustrated with the permanet top level management rotation hindering possible further positive development.
A Fortune Nr.1 of the top 500 US companies followed in my career. They planned to conquer the European markets in sanitary maintenance and food service in a "Blitzkrieg". In my function as Director Central Europe my first activities were to reorganize the quite complicated existing structures and design the future strategies.
When I just had finished this successfully, the board realized that their plans were not at all realistic, as the European markets were very competitive and worse, the planned acquisitions of major competitors in the core countries of Europe were impossible. So I and my team were surprised by a stop decision.
Disappointed with large concerns I tried the other way. Sales Manager ppa. (ppa. is the German Prokurist which gives the owner certain legal rights, in could be named Vice President) at the largest German family owned production business for newsprint paper and corrugated board was the next good five years a challenging and successful job, reporting directly to the managing owner.
The job involved too many international activites as well as representing the company in the asscociation as member of the board.
Despite more than 50% growth, I finally disagreed with the owner on future company policies which now leads me to start my own business.
